Crossroads and Seasons

October 30, 2010

It’s been a long while since I’ve been inspired (aka: unsettled enough) to write from a “stream of consciousness” perspective, but that’s where I am.  I wrote to a friend earlier that “there’s a strange sensation going on in my gut, like standing on the head of a very big pin.  Or pen.  I’m trying to remain stoic while holding on to quivering bootstraps.”

The universe is out to shake me up… I can feel it.  I’m digging deep to understand (remember) that a good shake-up isn’t necessarily a threat, so much as a forced evolution.

But nobody ever said evolution was painless.

Romantic relationships.  Friendships.  Children.  Careers.  Anything that grows and changes…  There are points along the way that define a direction.  We accept the change of seasons, but if we could divert the hurricanes, would we?

As I write and struggle to finish even THIS piece, it’s just occurred to me that my words of late have not been uninspired.  No.  I’ve avoided completion because I’ve moved beyond having NOTHING to lose to having everything to lose.  Words induce thoughts, and thoughts, at times, induce hurricanes.

How naive to be silenced by the weather.  Please bring on the inevitable change of season.

moving from nothing to lose to everything to lose for me means appreciation for what we have, and that is good. The “I dont give a sh*t” attitude translates apathy. Apathy is never been a good place.

Aren’t hurricanes and twisters and things of that nature caused by some current of air that got together at the wrong time? sometimes words are like that, they are said at the wrong time. They are not wrong just like cold air or hot air is not, it is just the wrong time for them to be said or to be heard.

Even in the strongest of hurricanes, its devastation induces rebuilding.
